At Interstate Telecommunications, we recently deployed 27 UniFi AI Pro cameras across a large commercial site. With that many in the field, we’ve had hands-on time to really explore what makes this camera stand out in the UniFi Protect ecosystem.

The AI Pro uses on-device AI processing to identify and categorize motion events. This includes:
Facial recognition
Vehicle detection
LPR (License Plate Recognition, enhanced when paired with AI Enhancer devices)
No more digging through hours of video or getting pinged for squirrels or shifting shadows.
Optical Zoom = Real Clarity
The 3x optical zoom lens sets the AI Pro apart from fixed-lens cameras. It allows you to:
Focus in on license plates without sacrificing image quality
Cover wide zones without losing fine details
Adjust zoom levels in the UniFi Protect app live or historically
Unlike digital zoom (which enlarges pixels), optical zoom physically adjusts the lens, preserving full 4K clarity.
